Suburban Reading Club
In the year 1888, July 21st, The Suburban Reading Club was founded in a small room of the Narkaldanga High School in Beliaghata Narkeldanga Area. The legendary personalities of this area Sir Gurudas Banerjee, Raja Rajendralal Mitra, Rakhal Chandra Ghosh and Harish Chandra Chakraborty, a dedicated teacher of the School decided to open a library for this eastern part of the then suburban Calcutta.

Rules & Regulations
- Working Hours: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday (7 PM to 8 PM)
- The library will be closed in Public Holidays
- Issue of Books: Subscribers & Members may borrow one book at a time for 15 days period
Membership Plans & Others:
- Subscription Plan: 10 Rs per month
- Life Membership Plan: 800 Rs once
- Admission Fees: 55 Rs once (Including 5 Rs for Passbook)
- Reference Deposit: 200 Rs (Refundable, for Reference Books)
- Admission Form: 5 Rs
- Should the book lost, be rare or irreplaceable, the member of the library concerned must tender the current market price or such amount as might be determined as equivalent or appropriate compensation for the loss.
